Chief Gary Smith and The Windsor Police Service is proud to announce a cooperative effort with the students of Forster Secondary School in the construction of new K9 Training Equipment.  Earlier this year, the WPS K9 Unit contacted the Hhad of the Construction Technology Program at Forster Secondary School Mr. Mike O’Neil  in regards to the possibility of creating a partnership between the school and Windsor Police with the intention of constructing some new pieces of “Agility Equipment” utilized in the training of Windsor Police Service Dogs.

Mr. O’Neil and his students agreed to undertake this project and as a result of a great deal of hard work, a number of pieces of agility equipment have been constructed to be used by the WPS K9 Unit at their training facility, and was delivered to Windsor Police this morning.+

The Windsor Police Service will be hosting the “United States Police Canine Association” Regional Championships from July 14 – 16, 2011 at the Police Training Centre as well as at Malden Park. This competition will bring Police service Dogs and their handlers from Michigan, Ohio, and Southwestern Ontario together for three days of friendly competition.
