Knowing my love of a cozy café, my friend insisted I check out Café Caché on Cabana Road. As I walked into the café, a warmth was radiating throughout the room, that wasn’t just coming from the sun streaming in from the front glass window. Owner Stacey Haskell has a welcoming friendly presence that seeps into the warm atmosphere like the foam on top of a good cappuccino.

Café Caché, which Haskell says means a hidden surprise, is a great place for those looking to unwind. The café, which has been open for 6 months, has been an idea Haskell has been planning for over 7 years. She says she likes the location because it gives people in South Windsor a nearby place where they can walk to and hang out.

The café is decorated in a modern Victorian style, with a very French inspired theme. The interior is decorated with miniature Eiffel tower statues, black and white photographs of Paris-like images, and little painting easels that display the desert choices.

Haskell says the café has a little bit of everything. While the chicken sandwiches are one of her most popular items, they also offer certain vegetarian choices, and gluten free food for people with that allergy. Haskell also tries to buy locally as much as she can. She says she thinks it’s important, because once you support local businesses they support you back, and it starts a chain reaction.

Supporting and helping to promote the local community is something Haskell is a big advocate for. The front counter of the café is lined with business cards and flyers for local businesses and shops. She also said she’d like to begin holding events that help the community, like a fundraiser for the Humane Society.

Haskell says she’d like to eventually expand the café or open up another location in Windsor. For Windsorites looking to relax with a corner seat and a book, the company of good friends, or just a good cup of coffee, the Café Caché is the perfect hidden surprise.
