The Workforce WindsorEssex’s Local Labour Market Plan Update and Action Plan for 2011-2012 is now available online.

Using statistical data, national research, local reports, surveys and key informant interviews the document outlines recent changes to our local economy. Current and projected challenges facing our workforce are addressed through the announcement of new and on-going projects, which align to WFWE’s five priorities identified by the community in 2009.

“Two significant changes have occurred since the ILLMP was first released in August of 2009,” said Donna Marentette, WFWE executive director.

“First, our economy is undergoing a structural transformation, transitioning to new technologies and industries and we’ve lost almost 7,000 people from our workforce in reported out-migration.”

The LLMPU’s Action Plan for 2011-2012 details strategies to retain our workforce and support the diversifying economy. The projects have been developed with the assistance of valued community partners, employers, public and private educational institutions and related service providers, who are committed to the building “a strong local economy and robust future.”

WFWE board president, Shelley Fellows has extended an invitation to any community members who can help achieve the projected goals.

“If you don’t see yourself in the Action Plan, let us know how you can get involved with WFWE and our partners to ‘build the talent pipeline’ and ensure economic and social prosperity for our region.”
