Parks and Recreation advises that all sports fields are closed as a result of unseasonably wet conditions. Ford Test Track is cancelled for the entire week.  Parks and Recreation limits access to the fields in early spring to allow the grass to re-establish itself after winter. In early spring, the turf is young and very tender and susceptible to damage. After a few weeks of warmer dry weather, the grass has grown stronger and more mature. The fields are then ready for active play. Allowing teams to play on wet fields could have long-term effects that seriously damage the turf. The potential for injuries to players due to unsafe playing surfaces is also a concern.

The Annual Restoration Fundraiser for Willistead Mannor will be held on Wednesday June 15th.  This year’s special guest is  the Right Honourable Paul Martin.  Cocktail & Hors D’Oeuvres Reception followed by a gourmet dinner and a Silent Auction. Tickets are $150 each with limited seating, please reserve early. RSVP by May 30th at 519-969-5860 or call toll free 1-877-528-7969.
