Showcasing songs from local bands, a Windsor musician hopes to help one local organization.

On Thursday, May 5  Jamie Reaume will release City Of Roses, a compilation album featuring local artists. A party marking the occasion will take place at the Manchester Pub (546 Ouelette Ave.) with proceeds from $15 tickets going to The Hospice Of Windsor & Essex County.

With his experience in creating compilation CD’s, Reaume was excited to do it again.

“I have in the past five-years or so organized two other compilation albums with success, ” he said. “After a significant break, I thought it was time to help showcase how alive the music scene in Windsor is again.  At the same time, the goal was to help out a local organization by surprising them with the money from the release party.”

Starting at 8 p.m., bands playing are Dave Russell & The Precious Stones, Blasternaut and Vice Aerial. Ticket buyers also receive a copy of the CD, a project Reaume oversaw himself.

“I asked my favourite artists from around town if they would be interested in being part of a compilation I was organizing,” he said. “Personally, I love compilation albums, I think every musician gets geeked about releasing a single song…everyone was excited when I sprung the idea on them, the vibe from the artists was really positive.”

Reaume has been a professional musician for eight-years, playing almost 2,000 shows everywhere from British Columbia to the Bahamas. His many concerts have paid for recording two albums and he’s currently working with Dave Russell, Luc Michaud and Chris Pace in a band called Awkward Sex.

As for Reaume’s hopes when it comes to the CD release party?

“I want this project to expose the artists to a wider audience and shine a light on some of the best songs in Windsor’s [music] scene,” he said. “For Hospice – I want to make a donation that helps them with their wonderful work, almost like a surprise donation.”
