The Windsor Spitfires facing elimination in a series tied 3-3 faced off against the Erie Otters for the seventh time this round.  Erie’s Holden scored the first goal within the first two minutes of play.  Windsor’s Tom Kuhnhackl and Alex Khokhlachev added a pair of goals to give the Spits a 2-1 lead going into the second period.

Erie’s McKegg tied the game up before Windsor’s Ryan Ellis and Taylor Carnevale added another big pair of goals to give the Spits a confident 4-2 lead.

Again Erie’s McKegg and Hostetter were able to tie things up for Erie with only 12 minutes left of play in the game.  The Spits Alex Khokhlachev scored possibly the game winning goal but was disallowed due to a hand pass by Tom Kuhnhackl.  Kuhnhackl however had another chance and was able to tap in a goal on the other side of the net deking out Erie netminder Sadikov off a pass from Alex Khokhlachev on the other side of the net to score the series winning goal!  The WFCU Centre erupted!!  With only two minutes and 48 seconds left in play the Spits just had to ride it out and stay strong defensively.  They did and took the series from Erie in seven games! Tom Kuhnhackl was named the first star of the game and Alex Khokhlachev the second.

We will post the schedule of the second round of games against the Saginaw Spirit as soon as it becomes available.
