If you live in Walkerville or the St. Clair Beach area and you get a knock at your door on Saturday, it could very well be University of Windsor student leaders and students of residence out collecting canned goods.

The students have partnered with Pathway to Potential, Windsor/Essex County’s poverty reduction strategy, and Windsor-Essex Health Unit’s teen post natal program and a program that supports mothers who are newcomers to Canada.

They hope to match last year’s goal of 2 ½ tonnes of food, as well as collect infant and toddler items. Students will be going door to door to from 11:00am to 4:00pm and at 4:00pm all the canned goods collected will be dropped off at the Windsor/Essex food bank warehouse, where the students will have the opportunity to learn more about the needs of the food bank and how the contributions will be distributed.
