P2P Appoints New Co-Chair

The city’s poverty reduction organization, Pathway to Potential, announced Gemma Smyth as their new co-chair today. Smyth, a professor and Academic Clinic Director at the University of Windsor Faculty of Law, will join Fabio Costante and the rest of the P2P team in the fight for ensuring social and economic well-being for all Windsorites and residents of Essex County.

MayWorks 2011 Set To Kick Off

Labour and education leaders in the city will gather on Tuesday, April 19th, to announce the start of MayWorks 2011. The MayWorks organization team has planned a month’s worth of events to highlight support for our city, our history of solidarity, concern for social justice and our tradition of labour arts. This year, a Cooperative Quilt has been created, and next week at Artcite, our local leaders will contribute to the project by sewing in their own patches.

Visitors From The Land Down Under

Today, Windsor Police Services welcomed two officers from Australia to the station. Trainer Shirley Verral and Senior Sergeant Tyler Crosby, both from the Queensland Police Service, have been touring the facility here in Windsor as part of the Rotary International Vocational Training Team, a program that provides travel grants for teams of participants to engage in their vocation in another part of the world.

Chamber of Commerce Rewards Businesses

The Windsor-Essex Region Chamber of Commerce held their annual awards ceremony last night at the WFCU Centre. Congratulations goes to Amy’s Helping Hands, for winning the new business of the year award. Antonino’s Original Pizza took home the award for best small company, Centerline Windsor Ltd. won the product innovation award, Atlas Tube won the international business award, and Russell A. Farrow Limited was awarded as the best large business.
