Windsor Airport Budget Requests

On this year’s Capital budget, Your Quick Gateway (YQG) who operates the Windsor International Airport has a couple of funding request on the table.  Under the agreement with the City signed in 2007, any improvements over $7,500 are funded by the city.

First, they are requesting $350,000 for airline terminal improvements.  With the introduction of Westjet last year and Porter’s at the end of this  month, changes are needed to the concourse.  Work includes improvements to the ceiling and better queuing and staging areas.

Second, they are requesting $215,000 for hangar purchase and renovations.  This will come from the Red Bull Air Races account which currently has a surplus.  In 2010 YQG purchased a hanger and renovated it for the air races, and now they are requesting they be reimbursed for that.
