With just minutes left before the 11:00pm cut off time for City Council, the issue of the Capitol Theatre was finally put on the table.

All the delegations listed to speak on the matter were cut short by Mayor Eddie Francis.

Christine Burchnall tells windsoriteDOTca that she had just 30 seconds to speak, but was happy that Councilor Bill Mara included Sheila Wisdom’s friendly amendment to the motion on the table that community groups be consulted during to any ’transitioning’ of the Capitol.  Councilor Marra also recommended that this community consultation commence ASAP, certainly prior to any proposed transfer of the Capitol from the City to a 3rd party.

Mayor Francis informed Council and the delegations that the City received the keys late Monday afternoon, and that all productions would go on as planned.  Mayor Francis also noted that city will need to spend $10,000 to clean the Theatre to bring it to city standards.
