Those of you who are keen on purchasing locally made gifts for your holiday hunnies this year are in luck! Made In Windsor, formerly of Ottawa Street, shifted gears this summer from their storefront location to a weekly outdoor market, which ran into the month of October. Once the weather cooled, I thought, “Where am I to get my local craft fix now?”

Just in time for the gift-giving season, Christine Rideout-Arkell is opening up the Made In Windsor Holiday Store inside the cozy walls of The House. Beginning tomorrow, customers can browse hundreds of locally made crafts and pieces of artwork, made by over 40 Windsor artists. Two floors of The House will be overrun with jewelry, purses, pottery, clothing, woodworking, greeting cards, candles, photography, aromatherapy, home décor, garden art… everything you’ve come to expect from Made In Windsor.

There’s an opening reception tomorrow evening, Friday, December 10th, from 6pm to 9pm. The event is co-sponsored by the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market, which is a fitting collaboration.

“The market has a lot of interest in events that spotlight the region’s talent and brings the community together,” says Natalie Bownes, co-chair of the Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market.  “We’re looking forward to an exciting opening reception and a vibrant holiday store.” Guests can enjoy refreshments while they check out all the new items, and lucky customers will receive some enticing giveaways.

Also in The House, you can buy t-shirts and other merchandise emblazoned with the popular Momentum Rose logo, created by Shane Potvin. All proud Windsorites should have a Momentum Rose button, at the very least. If you get a bit peckish (or even downright hungry), be sure to check what’s on the menu at Rino’s Kitchen.

From the Holiday Store’s Facebook event page

“You’ll see items for everyone on your list, from the new baby to grandma, your niece or nephew, hostess, boss, pets, husband or wife, or a little something for yourself, it’s all here… and most importantly, it’s all Made in Windsor.”

The Made In Windsor Holiday Store will be open every single day, right up until December 23rd, to make shopping locally easy for Windsorites. Hours of operation are Sunday to Wednesday 10am to 5pm, and Thursday to Saturday 10am to 9pm. The House is located at 131 Elliott Street, one block west of Ouellette Avenue.
