Hello time traveller!!
This article is 4868 days old.
The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

windsoriteDOTca wanted to get to know just who Scott Funnel was,  so we asked some bands that were playing at Funnelfest 2.0 to tell us about Scott and what he has done for them and the local music scene.

Below are some of their responses.  We will have more later on in the week!

Allusion is playing FunnelFest as a way to give back to the music scene of Windsor. We have played at the Coach and Horses prior to the tragedy that happened to Scott Funnel and the co-operation and efficiency with which Scott worked with us with was commendable. This show is in the whole sense of the word a “tribute” to Scott for his service and dedication to the Windsor scene. Our experience with Scott was minimal which was only one show so far, but he really did help us in many ways. December 3rd was in fact a show at the FM Lounge featuring Allusion but we decided to open the venue for the other acts and the fans and the community at large just so Scott and our music scene could benefit at large. I want to thank the show organizers, fans, bands and all those involved in making this show a reality. Allusion is very much looking forward to playing at FunnelFest and we hope to see you there!

–Daniyal Malik from Allusion

We were asked to headline the first night of Funnelfest and the reason why we are playing, is simply this… I give Scott all the credit in the world, he provided me a platform to showcase myself, and my bands in Windsor for the past 11 years.  Somewhere down the line from the hundreds of Coach shows I’ve played, we became very good friends.  He’s a brother, and I know everyone else in the scene considers him to be a brother as well, so I’m not alone on this.  As the generations turn, and bands come and go, Scott has always been the staple and glue that holds the scene together… Not only is he a pioneer in our city’s hardcore music scene, but he’s also the reason why the Coach is still running strong.   Scott is and always has been and always will be: FAMILY.

Funnelfest 2.0 happens this Friday and Saturday in Downtown Windsor.  A complete rundown of the show and some background is available here.
