Anthony Smith of the USA Pista Elite team battles for position in the 2009 Race

The Tour di Via Italia — Windsor’s only championship cycling race — is this Sunday, registration is open for over $11,000 in prizes and thousands of spectators are expected to line the course bordered by Erie, Parent, Giles and Howard streets.

The Tour di Via Italia is accompanied by a brand new event this year. The Windsor Cycling Grand Prix will take place this Saturday at Ford Test Track. The Grand Prix is a youth and experienced cyclist race with over two-thousand dollars in prize money. It’s the first of its kind of events ever to be held at Ford Test Track! The Grand Prix kicks off on Saturday at 11am.
