Paramedics assess the medical condition of the driver.

Around 3:40pm on Sunday, a man was driving a blue 3rd generation Chrysler minivan through the intersection of Howard and Ottawa when he struck a vehicle and then sped off.

Minutes later, the same vehicle struck another car near the intersection of Wyandotte and Chilver. Finally, the vehicle crashed into the curb on Chilver between Tuscarora and Cataraqui.

Each person who was struck by the vehicle immediately reported it to police. One complainant told police that the van was dropping debris and smoking near the intersection of Wyandotte and Chilver.

Approximately 6 police cars converged on the scene to confront the male driver. Police spoke with him on scene, but he was not in handcuffs. An ambulance was dispatched to the scene of the crash to assess the man.

Police would not comment. Therefore, it is unknown whether or not the man suffered from a medical condition or was under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

One witness to the crash stated that the man was driving at an extremely high rate of speed and was ignoring stop signs.

Several other residents who lived nearby on Chilver said they came out front after hearing tires squealing and a loud crash.

Myers Towing was dispatched to tow the totaled vehicle.
