Windsor Police responded to Devonshire Mall around 1:40pm after they got a report that 4 men were seen walking into the mall’s west entrance and one of the men allegedly had what appeared to be a handgun in his belt. After about 15 minutes of investigating and locating the men inside the mall, it turns out it was just a plastic piece of the man’s belt and not a firearm.

This is the second firearms scare at a commercial business this week. The last one occurred on Tuesday, June 22nd, around 7pm when 2 women ran out of the Real Canadian Super Store with a large quantity of stolen meat. The loss prevention officer chased the shoplifters to their vehicle in the parking lot, at which point a male waiting in the vehicle pulled out a handgun.

Police were seen canvassing the parking lot in the area, with a marked Chevy Tahoe patrolling the parking lot as well as some undercover police officers. Another police car was seen waiting in the back alley of Home Outfitters. The male gunman was eventually located inside Home Outfitters and arrested. The weapon turned out to be a bb gun.
