Korda Productions is holding the second round of auditions for their upcoming presentation of Reefer Madness. Actors, singers and dancers between 18 and 50 years of age are invited to show off their abilities on Saturday, May 29th, from 1-3pm at the Kordazone Theatre (2520 Seminole Street).
Korda’s rendition of Reefer Madness will be based on the original 1936 film, which illustrates the demonizing effect of marijuana on straight-laced kids. The musical comedy format will be the perfect way to parody the classic film, which uses evil jazz music as a signal that the neighbourhood kids have fallen to the dark side of drug use, leading to promiscuous sex and unnecessary violence.
Anyone interested in auditioning should come prepared with a complete Broadway song to belt out, as well as a 16 to 32 bar cut of the song (accompaniment will be available, so bring along sheet music if you have it, otherwise a karaoke version will do). Side scripts will be available from the play for the acting portion of the audition. There are seven male characters to cast, and seven female characters.
Callbacks will be made on Sunday, May 30th, from 7-9pm, where a group dance audition will take place.
Reefer Madness will be directed by Jeff Marontate, with musical direction by Devon Hansen and choerography by Alexandra Spirou, and produced by Tracey Atin.
Actors are asked to call 519-562-3394 to schedule an audition time.
