Public Works cleans up the downed light pole.

Myers Towing prepares to tow away the minivan.

An intoxicated middle-aged man crashed his minivan into the back of Jeep Cherokee and then knocked over a light pole just after 11pm Tuesday night. The collision occurred on Howard, directly in front of Devonshire Mall.

The exact extent of injuries is unknown, as police were too busy to answer any questions. A second police unit on scene nailed a motorist for speeding by the scene and then left to pursue a higher priority call.

The other police officer on scene stayed with the intoxicated man who was in handcuffs, sitting on the hood of the police cruiser.

Right after the man was transported away to jail, his family members attended the scene and were in distress. The police officer got into a shouting match with them, ordering them to get off the roadway and advised them that the man had gone to jail.

It was a dramatic scene as other passengers involved in the accident declared aloud in disbelief that their friend had been arrested and taken away to jail.
