There were 2 separate unrelated incidents of people becoming trapped inside elevators in downtown Windsor this afternoon. The first incident occurred in a high rise at 251 Goyeau around 1pm. Windsor Fire & Rescue attended the scene, but the elevator eventually started working on its own.

Another incident occurred in another multi-story building around 3pm in downtown Windsor. Several people were trapped in an elevator around the 3rd floor. Windsor Fire & Rescue decided to the pry open the doors to extricate the trapped individuals since the elevator company was taking too long to arrive and it was getting unbearably hot inside the elevator.

People getting trapped in elevators is actually pretty common in Windsor. Usually an elevator company comes to fix the elevator and the fire department rarely have to break the elevator doors open. The fire department usually gets calls for people trapped inside elevators at least a few times a month.
