It’s confirmed that Summerfest will take place at the WFCU Centre this June and July.  An undetermined number of events may take place at the Downtown Armouries.  The Detroit River fireworks are scheduled for Monday June 21st.

The event is moving from Windsor’s Riverfront due to reconstruction of the Civic Terrace and Festival Plaza, as well as an adjacent sewage retension basin project.

Facebook groups have sprung up in hopes of keeping the festival on the Riverfront this year.

In 2009, the Dragon Boat Festival for the Cure moved temporarily from Windsor’s Sandpoint Beach to Tecumseh’s lake front park due to a strike by City of Windsor employees.  In late 2009, the festival made a decision to permanently remain in Tecumseh.

Are you concerned that once Summerfest becomes established at the WFCU Centre, it may not return to the Riverfront in subsequent years?  Have your say!
