windsorite daily polls return today after a small technical glitch with our polling software on Wednesday

City Councillor Ron Jones is suggesting that Google should make a return visit to Windsor to redo “Street View” because of unsightly areas of the city (Street View was photographed during the City of Windsor strike last summer).

It would be nice if they came back, but why would they waste their time/money/resources when they were just here last year? It's not their fault that CUPE was on strike.

I'm sure they will be back in about 5 years time though if we'lre lucky.

That's a good point, actually… I wonder how often they photograph an area. Every 5 years? 10 years? There's got to be some kind of system in place so that Google has current images on their maps.

This is a biased poll. The only two choices are “No, Windsor Looks Great” and “Yes”. Where is the option for “No, Regardless”? It is not Google's job to advertise Windsor. Windsor knew the camera was coming, had an opportunity to put on its best face for the world, and this is what Windsorsites decided on. That's life.

Ahhh… Windsorites didn't decide on anything. It was city council vs. the union. Regular citizens had absolutely no say in the matter.

I agree though, it's not Google's job to make Windsor look good. They came, they photographed, they left. Let this be a lesson, no to Windsorites, but to those people who actually DID have the power to change things.

This should also be looked upon as a lesson: http://www.cbc.ca/technology/story/2010/02/23/w…

As embarrassing as that street view is it's not google's fault.
Windsor is just going to have to accept that one, disgusting, piece of our history. It's not like anyone's going to forget it happened, so there's no point in trying to erase it.
