Google Inc. has released a 3D version of Detroit on its popular Google Earth program, and with Detroit, comes Windsor!
Utilizing tools from Google SketchUp, 3D modelers have ‘rendered’ many of downtown Windsor’s buildings, along with the University, and parts of Walkerville.
The tunnel ventilation building, old bus terminal, Windsor Armouries and the A-Channel News building/Palace theatre.
Ouellette Avenue’s Paul Martin Building flanked by the Candarel (Chrysler) building.
The embattled 400 City Hall Square.
City Hall.
Two of Windsor’s tallest buildings: Royal Windsor Terrace and Victoria Park Place.
Charles Clark Square, the Essex County Courthouse and Windsor Police HQ.
The Old Fish Market (housing The Loop, the Coach and Horses) and the Windsor Star Building.
On the west end of Windsor, here’s the University Campus!
Assumption Church.
Over in Walkerville: the Walker Power Building stands in front of the old Walkerville Town Hall; Hiram Walker’s storage buildings and “Club Lofts” Condominiums in the background.
Check out Windsor for yourself on Google Earth, you can download it here. Be sure to check “3D Buildings” in the list pane on the left side of your screen.
thx to Tom Lucier for the tweet about this.
