“The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming”
Russia’s top junior hockey players faced the best and the brightest in the Ontario Hockey League at the WFCU Centre, Monday night.
Windsor was chosen last year by the OHL to host the 2009 Subway Super Series’ Russia -vs- the OHL game. Fans, players, scouts and delegates packed the WFCU Centre on Monday to watch the magic.
Windsor’s star forward, Taylor Hall, along with London Knight’s Nazem Kadri led the game in scoring with a goal and an assist each.
Plymouth Whalers goaltender Matt Hackett stopped thirty of 32 shots on the OHL net.
Zack Kassian of the Peterborough Petes put a goal in the Russian net with only minutes to spare until the end of the game. The OHL won this match with a 5-2 final score.
A great job by Team Russia.
And congratulations to the OHL team for an outstanding win here in Windsor.
