What happens when a three week project turns into three-month beautification project?  Traffic chaos.

What started as a simple mill-and-pave operation to replace broken asphalt and disrupted gutters on Dougall Avenue has temporarily transformed one of Windsor’s busiest North-South thoroughfares into a lane restricted bottleneck of automotive madness after additional work was added to the project.

Dougall Avenue between Ouellette Pl. and West Grand Blvd. is undergoing extensive landscaping and beautification to make the area into a more attractive civic gateway.  Completed features will include a multi use trail between South Cameron Blvd. and West Grand Blvd., flower beds, decorative stonework, additional trees and bushes as well as a compltely redone roadway.

The project is now scheduled to be completed by the end of November.

Remember, it says “scheduled to be completed by the end of November.” That means it will be actually done sometime after Christmas. Happy shopping, Wal-mart customers! :)

The waits are brutal in that area. The real work should’ve been to add bike lanes from Tecumseh Road or at least Eugenie to West Grand. Instead we’ll waste millions of dollars on this work and then look for upper levels of government to pay for a widening and improvement of that road and railway underpass.
