It’s the final weekend of the year for the new Downtown Windsor Farmers’ Market.

It’s a great chance to stock up on local apples, potatoes, baked goods, pumpkins and more before frost heads into Essex County.  The market is open on Saturday from 8am until 3pm, at the former Windsor/Greyhound bus terminal on Chatham street between Goyeau and Ouelette.

The market will return in early to mid 2010!

My sister is one of the founding members of the Durham Farmers Market in Durham, North Carolina. This year, the market that started with just a handful of vendors in a parking lot, is celebrating 10 years of bring fresh fruit and veggies and baked goods to the City of Durham.

This is such a great addition to our city. We got peaches, corn, squash, eggs, a pie, potatoes, onions, field garlic and apples here this year. Looking forward to next year!

Sad to see it go for the winter. It breathed some life into downtown, and it certainly is nice to be able to get some fresh, local produce and not have to leave the city for it. Soups, apples, grain, coffee beans, zuccinis, I got all sorts of great stuff.
