The 51st annual Windsor/Detroit “Target” fireworks are tonight, with the first pyrotechnic amazement starting at 10:06pm.
Bus to Fireworks
After Transit Windsor originally announced they wouldn’t be offering shuttle bus service to this years’ fireworks, Zehrs stepped in to sponsor the free rides. From a City of Windsor Press release:
“Thanks to Zehrs Great Food you can ride the bus after 6:00 p.m. to the fireworks for FREE. Beginning at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, the farebox on city buses (tunnel bus excluded) will be covered and no fare collected. Additionally, a park n’ ride shuttle service will operate from Devonshire and Tecumseh Malls to the downtown area.
The shuttle buses begin operating from the malls at approximately 6:00 p.m. and continue until approximately 9:30 p.m. The return service starts immediately after the fireworks and continues until approximately 12:15 a.m. or until all passengers in line have boarded a bus to get back to their car.”
Bike to Fireworks
CycleWindsor.ca hosts their annual “Bike to Fireworks”:
“Bike to Fireworks – Join us for Bike to Fireworks on June 24th and park your bike for free at Charles Clark Square between 6pm and 1 hour past following the fireworks display.”
