Saturday night, I spent the evening in a smoke-filled enclosure with ear-ringing noise to witness a first for Windsor: Monster Trucks ripping through cars! Monster Spectacular held its first of two shows at the WFCU Centre. More pics after the jump..
Before the show began, a Pit Party took place on the ‘ice’.
Motorcycle ramp for the awesome jumps!
The setup before folks made their way in.
One of the five monster trucks, Iron Outlaw.
The MC for the night interviews the driver of “Godzilla”.
Patrons enjoy the Pit Party, and shortly the show begins…
And the show begins, with FMX jumping.
Preparing for landing.
Some of these jumps were chilling.
But somehow, they all end successfully.
And the crushing begins.
Up he goes.
Flying.
*CRUNCH*
Next, it’s “Brutus’” turn.
Can I get an “OM NOM NOM”?
Windsor built cars?
Smash the glass.
And off he goes.
“Avenger’s” turn.
“Bounty Hunter’s” turn.
A bit later, it was off to the races. Pairs squared off to see who could pass through the cars first.
“Brutus” won this one.
And then things got even crazier. A forklift brought a fullsized van to be crushed.
Warming up for the van.
“Brutus” made more donuts than a Tim Hortons before morning rush.
Avenger takes on the van!!
Tire-d!
So long, van.
Another neat event at the WFCU Centre! Thanks again to Global Spectrum for letting me photograph this.
There’s a second performance of Monster Spectacular today (Sunday) at 2pm. I believe there are actually still tickets available, here if you want to attend!
